You Say You're Good at Games (Warning: Ramble)

It's far too common these days for people to be completely arrogant. With the wonderful invention of the internet, egos are inflated. But that's not the point I'm making here. Anyone with half a cent can find any forum and find answers. My point is if we are limited ourselves due to rock-solid egos?

One would think, after years of gaming experience that one would be more adept to a new game. Ironically, Older games can be more challenging than recently released ones. As known, someone with an ego is less likely to take advice, yet it too cocky to actually give useful advice that would benefit a "lesser skilled" player. Believe it or not, the comment "don't suck" is not helpful. Now, its obvious some players can be much better than others. I'm mostly convinced that they got their from experience, and an attitude of "I can learn more, always". Many also want to help out others. But, most people have a 5-foot concrete ego defense wall surrounding a fragile insecure mind. Anyways, thats one point of why the general player base will not continue to get better.

The other point is a very narrow-mind. Take for example, someone's car hydroplanes and gets into a fender-bender with some schmo. What will that guy think? I'll put my money on "it's not my fault" or "he shouldn't have been there". "Nerf Schmo!". Not, "hey, maybe, just maybe, I was going to fast? Maybe I need to practice driving even more? Maybe I need new tires"? it may be a bad illustration, but I really don't care either. So, are you a good gamer? Unless your the best, you need to get better. Learn from others. And no one is the best. There is always someone better than you.

The last comment signifies that there is at some point a Highlander. You may look at the word "best" implying the be all end all of said whatever. However "best" is just who's currently the person who has yet to meet the person that is "better" than them.

There's always a best for everything. Aside from MMO's, since best in that term is loosely used to describe good, anything that has boundaries there is no best, there's simply people that hit the end of the line.

The general player base will not get better because of a lack of the attitude that pushes them further, to be the best, to strive for perfection. The best players I know at every game I've played are those who you refer to as having "5 foot concrete ego's" who apparently have "insecure" mind's to match, this is usually not the case.

Confusing "ego" with "being dumbfounded as to how someone doesn't see the game the way you do" isn't really the right way to look at it. They're most certainly not insecure, hell, I'M pretty damn arrogant when it comes to games. This stems from trying to be the nice person and explain simple things to people that aren't really that hard to grasp and they have enormous difficulty. It gets to a point where it's so much easier just to say "No, this is the way it is, just do it."

Not to mention, this also stems from countlessly just telling someone "yeah you'd get better X by doing Y." or something along those lines, and it's completely ignored.

That "ego" (it's much less an ego and more assholery, being very harsh in reactions) also builds up from repeatedly being asked questions that COULD very well be answered just by looking up on the forums or asking there.

I, without hesitation, will assert my "I'm better than you" card if inclined to do so, however I don't object to being asked questions, so long as I don't get hassled about my answer since odds are, I'm right. And if in the offchance I'm wrong, I'll admit to it when that's proven.

PS-- Rage is normalized based on weapon speed and DPS and level. You don't get more rage with a faster weapon, in fact, you get less rage per hit, just more often. A slower offhand will result in more rage per hit, just less often.

A slow main hand / slow offhand for a warrior does not in any way shape or form impact your rage generation, but it IS necessary to maximize the power of Whirlwhind, which just like all instant attacks, is best used with slower weapons.

Fury warrior = Slow main, slow off, for maximum damage output. Suggestion for Ian-- Run Karazhan like a mother fucker and offhand "The Decapitator" since you already have a S1 mainhand, or, even better, get a second S1 "mainhand" since it's not actually main-hand and just "One-Hand".

Yes, I read up on the rage thing. I don't usually take whatever devin says right there set in stone. Don't do that for many people.

You slightly misinterpreted my rant.
You say that you know people who are arrogant, but very good. I'm not calling them arrogant. If anything, they're rightly confident. I was more targeting the players who obviously need to get better, but refuse because they either take advice as a personal insult or are dead-set on their playing style and do not believe changing will improve it without weighing it out. Striving for perfection is not arrogance. Rejecting that urge for prefection because it makes them look "weak" is arrogance. My rant was to point out that many players don't get better because they refuse to admit their own shortcoming.

Of course there are people that hit the end of the line, but I believe that isn't the best. The best is absolute perfection, which, I think no one has achieved. Otherwise, the word 'best' is just in relation to other individuals.

I have to admit repling with asshole remarks because the question is so easy to simply google. But, most of the time, I try to answer said question without immediatly thinking that I have an upper-hand.

As you said, you don't mind being asked questions, and you will admit that if your wrong. Yet, you are better than most players. That, I think, is confidence. Arrogance would be asserting your correct to the death, never taking the fault for anything.

I don't get many a chance to assert the "I'm better than you" card in video games. Blatently, I'm clumsy, and have a longer learning curve. But, with programs such as C4D, and photoshop, I can pick them up very quickly. So I know where your coming from, just in a different feild.

Hope that makes more...sense?
